I changed my original branding at the end of the course. I didn't start off with who I was as a designer. I'm just beginning to unfold.
I chose the African pattern because I grew up in Zimbabwe and I'm homesick.
The colours I used are from a sarong that I have from a holiday in Mombasa, Kenya. It was a few months before the world stopped. And one of my best memories of that trip was lying on a deckchair at a beachfront hotel, dripping from the warm sea, sipping a beer and smoking a cigarillo and thinking 'this is the life!'
I stole the idea of 'just using my name' from my daughter who was going to do the same for her business. Although she refused to reveal the idea for her logo!
